The first tranche of LCDs and driver boards (1800) arrived at the Cyntech warehouse last week. I chased over there on Friday to meet Dave, freshly back from his holiday. We put together a trial fit of the parts and here is the first one built from production stock.
I took this one to display at the Cambridge Jam on Saturday.
B+ Back First Proto
Paul Beech from Pimoroni also came along to the Jam and brought me the first prototype B+ back.
We need to make a B+ back going forward, but all the KS rewards will ship with the model B back. A back for both wouldn’t work as it would be one great big hole.
We also discussed the hardware (nuts and bolts etc), some last minute design niggles and how to get ‘back on track’. It was a very useful meeting and I was very glad that he came over.
The case parts and hardware are now the rate-limiting factors, but we hope to have enough parts from Pimoroni to be able to start shipping the first HDMIPis next week.
And On Sunday, I Rested
Not! Sunday was my 45th birthday. I had about half a day off, but then needed to clear my bench in the workshop so I could get it ready for theHDMIPi assembly video shoot, which I spent most of Monday on.
Assembly Video Done
It’s 30 minutes of full HD and took many hours to upload the full 3.5Gb to YouTube. But I think it covers everything you could possibly need to know. (At least, I hope so).
If you ever need to find instructions for your HDMIPi, just go to http://hdmipi.com/instructions You can find this assembly video and the HDMIPi User Guide there too.
Current State of Affairs
We have boxes and boxes of stuff at the Cyntech warehouse. We have pretty much everything required to ship your HDMIPi except for some of the case parts.
We’re expecting the remaining case parts to start arriving in a couple of days and we will then start to ship. Here’s what we had on Wednesday…
We also have loads of USB leads and HDMI connectors…
We can’t wait to get on with it. We won’t get the remaining case parts all at once and it will take some time to pack and ship, so please bear with us. We’re currently kitting the parts we do have and hoping to start shipping on Tuesday.
